Al 'Jazzbeaux' Collins

Al 'Jazzbeaux' Collins, shown here with jazz singer June Christy in 1962, was the best known of the jazz disk jockeys although he did every kind of radio show throughout his long career. When Bob Whitney arrived at KALL in Salt Lake City as Program Director, there was Al sitting in the middle of the day guaranteed to be Jazzbeaux and NOT anybody's Top Forty disk jockey. He was already a world famous personality having started in radio in the 1940's. Jazzbeauz went on to host programs in LA at KMET, KFI, KLAC & KGBS; in San Francisco at KGO, KSFO and KMPX. His last program was a jazz show at KCSM, the public radio station of the College of San Mateo. Al 'Jazzbeaux" Collins died of cancer in 1997.

CLICK HERE to listen to Al on The Radio Show as a nightime talk jockey on Newsradio KGO in the '70's. In this example are some of the sorts of crazy subjects that were just plain normal for Al 'Jazzbeaux' Collins. Is Jazzbeaux selling things - or what?
