Brian Roberts grew up listening
to LA radio - to deejays like Gary Owens, The Real Don Steel
and Humble Harv. He couldn't think of anything better than being
an LA deejay and dreamed of working with his on-air heroes. He
got out of the Air Force in 1970 after part time radio work while
in the service. He got up the nerve to call Robert W. Morgan
at KHJ and used his best radio voice to tell Morgan that he was
an "out of work jock" and "was looking for a gig."
Since he had never met Morgan he nearly fell over when the famous
deejay sent him out to KAFY in Bakersfield to see a friend. Brian
went in an LA minute. He was hired part time and that began his
deejay career which has taken him to the top stations (would
you believe KYA - KOCN - KUTE - KCBQ-MAJIC 106 - KCBS-FM - KRLA - K-EARTH and Westwood
One.). He even got to work with all of
his LA radio heroes. Now he's morning man and operations director
at 92.7 LITE FM in Thousand Oakes near LA and on weekends the
entire country can hear him on the Westwood One Oldies channel
with over 150 stations coast to coast. Brian tells us many stories
about his 33 year career in California radio here on Our Radio
Show and you'll meet some of his friends. |
