This picture taken at Oak Bluffs, probably in the late 1920's (BFBJ&BW)
(Before Bob, John and Bruce Whitney) - shows the miracle of Photoshap.
The same picture appears above (small picture, top right)
in about the shape it was in when we scanned it - too
small and blurry even to identify the people. Here it
is after processing and re-touching in Photoshop.
Now we know that Gramma Anna (Dix-Norton) Whitney
is on the left and Whitney friend Art Sisson ("Uncle" Art) is at the top.
In front of Art is young Alice Irene (Jewett) Whitney (later also to be a Fultz).
To the right of Art and Mom are two ladies who we're not sure about
(could be Marion (top) and/or Edith (in front next to Irene) Whitney.
We think Gertrude Sisson is seated in the lower right. Standing with his
cane (of course) is Whitney Patriarch Franklin H. Whitney.

This is Grampa Bob's great-aunt, Jennie, sister of Franklin H. Whitney. She was born in North Adams, Massachusetts (as was G'Bob's Dad, Donald W. Whitney.) She was born 30 years before Donald, in 1870. She died in 1946 (76 years old) in the town where she was born, North Adams, at 31 Dover Street. She was a lifelong teacher. She graduated from Drury Academy in 1888. She began teaching first grade at the Archer School in Blackinton in 1910. She taught at the Mark Hopkins School and the Haskins Schools (probably in North Adams.) She retired from teaching in 1939 when Grampa Bob was 10 years old.
